I have always thought it was sad when people immigrate to the U.S. and lose their cultural identity and don't pass on any part of it to their children. My youngest daughter has a Turkish father and I'm determined to make sure she knows something of her cultural heritage on that side of the family. I'll be learning right along with her! Until I met her father, I never gave Turkey much thought. It seemed rather obscure and not worthy of much attention. Well, obviously, I have had a change of heart!! It is truly an amazing country with a rich and fascinating history.
I am struggling to learn the language, and I have watched the entire series of "Gönulçelen" with English subtitles on YouTube. I have almost no money, so my Turkish/American Homeschool will be run on a shoestring budget, but there are lots of free resources out there!
