An apple a day

I bought a bag of small apples at the store the other day.  I don't much like apples,  but i want to try to eat one a day, or at least 5 a week. I ate one out of hand the other day, and today I grated one and threw it, a handful of raisins, and a sprinkle of cinnamon in with my oatmeal before i cooked it. I like apples with caramel dip, apples with a slice of cheddar, and I'm looking for other ideas.

I am also trying to get at least 1 citrus serving daily.  I have a bag of clementines which I ADORE. Easy to carry, easy to peel,, easy to section, no seeds. Tasty.  What more could you ask for?

A big part of not spending money is to stay out of stores as much as possible! I HATE shopping, anyway. And always shop with a list and stick to it!

I didn't weigh this morning, but I think yesterday I was 199. I'm not focused on weight loss right now. I really want to get geared up with flylady.net, too. Again, I need to focus.  I'm really distracted with this "should I send my preschooler to Turkey for a month when she's never been apart from me for more than one day?". issue.  My brother thinks I'm nuts to even have to think about it.  I have been advised to not look for the best in someone (my natural inclination) in this situation, but to imagine the worst.  The worst is quite ugly. Sara Edwards says she felt she had "every reason" to believe her husband would return with their son, who has been kept from her for 9 months now, and who has his 3rd birthday this month.

An apple a day keeps the doctors away, good plan! =) I don't eat apples much myself, the kids devour them as soon as I bring them in the house, better fruit then junk food, I always say. Try making homemade apple sauce, when it's warm it's really good. I like to bake mine as a desert, core it, add raisins, cinnamon brown sugar or red hots-candies and bake, you can use butter in the mix, but I think it's just as good w/o it.
I do the same in oatmeal, just chop an apple and throw some raisins in the water and by the time the H2O boils, they're done and ready for oatmeal to be added.

I've tried the latke, but not the kugel. If you do try it, let me know how it is.

The Sara Edwards story is heart wrenching.

I like apples...especially apple juice, but that probably doesn't count. You can also grate up an apple and add it to pancake mix. Adam likes that.
I am not sure you should assume the worst, but I don't think you should assume the best in this situation. Yes, we have to trust that God will take care of us and our children, but we also must be good stewards of the blessings He has given us. Is sending D to Turkey the best thing for anyone besides her father?
